12V is the optimal current that we get on the batteries mostly. Most of the time, it is direct current, and almost all the batteries that are used in the vehicles run at 12V. That is why 12V air compressors are sort of a must-have thing for any vehicle if you are planning on going on someplace with no possibility of getting yourself a tire inflator if needed.

These air compressors are a get-away deal if you get stuck in such situations. However, if they are not working, here are a few things that you will have to check.

12V Air Compressor Not Working

1) Turn the Engine On

At times, the vehicular 12V Cigarette lighter ports are designed in a way that they supply current only when the engine is turned on. Also, there might be some other problems like your battery might be weak, or it might not have an appropriate charge on it. All this collectively can cause you to have certain issues that you wouldn’t like to face and you will have to go through the trouble.

To fix all such issues and problems, you should start the engine first and then plug in your air compressor in the cigarette lighter port. This is going to optimally solve all the problems that you might be having and you will be able to make it work in the right manner.

2) Mind the Port

You will have to make sure that the port is not loose. As the port is round and there might be something on the port that might be causing you to have this problem. Try rotating the cigarette lighter plug and that will be fixing the problem for you for good. This might not be a problem most of the time, but it can be sometimes. You need to tightly plug in the cigarette lighter port and that way, there are not many problems that you will have to face.

3) Check the Cable

Sometimes there are issues with the cables and that might be causing you to face the issue with your 12V air compressor. You need to ensure that the cable is not damaged or sharply bent at some point. This way, you will be able to make sure that the current is being supplied correctly on the air compressor and you will not have to worry about an inflated tire anymore.

4) Mind the Nozzle

You will have to take care of the nozzle and make sure that it is in the right order and clipped on tightly. At times, if the nozzle is not clipped on tightly on the tire valve, then these air compressors have a security measure on it that will not let them work. You will need to ensure that the nozzle is clipped tightly, and if you feel like there are any issues on that part. You should be taking it off, and then plug it tightly into the air compressor. This is going to help you out in the perfect manner and you will be able to make the air compressor work.
